We felt welcomed at all times!

We expected a neat, funky rock-themed hotel and that's exactly what we got. What's more, the staff were super-friendly - though we had many little wishes, they all tried to fulfill them immediately and kept a smile on their faces. All of the staff seemed to like what they do and expressed pride in their indeed very special little hotel (all of the black framing in the bar/dining area is signed and drawn on by bands that stayed at the place!). We felt welcomed at all times. Our wishes for a room with a private bathroom were matched. When we realized that we didn't get a real double bed but two single beds pushed together, we informed them of it and they converted it to a real double bed the day after. Our Wi-Fi didn't work in the beginning (fourth floor), but they resetted the router and everything worked fine after that. The room interior is absolutely superb if you're into rock music: Stage-like overhead bed lights, a backstage dressing/make-up table for the ladies, a iPod-dock-radio for your music. We saw into some of the other (group) rooms when descending the stairs and they all had special themes like Rock Band, Jägermeister etc. Really cool. The hotel's right next to Leidseplein, so it's awesomely located. Be sure to hit up the nearby Mike's Bike Tours & Rentals for bikes. The guitars and amps in the dining area aren't just for decoration - they let us play them! Super awesome for musicians! All in all, we had a wonderful experience and will surely visit the BackStage Hotel again.

Location in the center of Amsterdam Music scene

Great hotel full of character, and the staff are really friendly. Location was also great right in the centre of Amsterdams music scene. The only thing I would critise is the noise at night. But then again it is something you have to expect as Amsterdam has a buzzing nightlife. Overall highly recommended and I look forward to staying again.

    Great Little Bar

Positief: In such a great location for bars and restaurants. Only 15 mins walk (and a really pretty walk) to the Red Light District. Had the comfiest bed I have ever slept in and our room was cleaned daily. Friendly staff and a great little bar. Cool decor in rooms.

Negatief: Nothing at all - I loved it!

Would stay there again.

    BackStage Action

We stayed at the Backstage Hotel for 4 nights and had a really enjoyable stay. Beds were super comfortable the rooms were very clean. We slept so well here!
I really liked the decor; backstage style mirror with bulbs around, over bed spot lights and the iPod dock was really good! Shower was great (it was set out in the walk in wet room style). Always hot & clean.
The staff were all really friendly and willing to help out with anything. (Even a toastie at midnight, haha) The bar area was nice, although we didn't see many other people around.
Location is good, very close to Leidseplein (about 5 mins walk) and there are loads of shops, cafe's and places to eat here. It is about a 15-20 min walk to Dam Square/Red Light District and 20 mins to the Museumplein, so it is quite easy to get around and see everything.
We would stay again here on our next trip to Amsterdam, due to the friendly staff, clean rooms & great location! Great value for money here.
The only downside is the extremely steep stairs, but if you know anything about Amsterdam you will know that they can't be avoided wherever you stay! (It's much easier to crawl up than walk!) :)

    BackStage Hotel

We stayed here in the middle of the week just for one night. The staff were great. The room was adequate for the price. The location is great and you are close to all kinds of action and can get advice as to whats on. Its a long walk up narrow stairs to the top floor so dont stay if you have a mobility problem. We would stay again as its clean, friendly, and has a sense of fun about it.

    Ejoyed the stay!

Was happily surprised by BackStage Hotel, at first sight I'd had deemed it a hostel among others, but I was wrong! Except for the steep stairs (which might just be a Dutch thing) I really enjoyed our stay here, the rooms where clean and quiet and the breakfast was just everything you could wish for!! Thanks to great welcoming and service by the friendly staff!

    From Kristian

The room was CLEAN! Amazing! There was WIFI. It was EASY TO find. Amsterdam is a walkable city.... and this property is close to Leidseplein and other tourist attractions! Totally recommend this place! :) The breakfast buffet in the mornings for 6.50 euros isn't a bad deal either considering how expensive Amsterdam can be....
